My Approach

I love holding space for people to feel into the beauty and tragedy of life. It’s from this place that we can gain insight into the true needs of the body, mind and heart. Together we can turn towards those needs with curiosity and empathy to build more care, meaning and possibility into our lives.

I’m a Gestalt Therapist with over 15 years of experience teaching mindfulness and somatic embodiment practices (including yoga, breath work and meditation). Both personally and professionally, I’ve seen the transformative power of tapping into the wisdom of the body and unpacking what comes up through the therapeutic process.

I provide individual therapy (both in-person and virtually) for people who are experiencing:

→ anxiety
→ overwhelm/stress
→ depression
→ body image issues
→ grief
→ numbness
→ feeling stuck
→ the impacts of trauma
→ sexual/gender identity questions
→ burnout
→ low self-esteem
→ relationship struggles
→ feeling regret
→ fertility issues
→ a harsh inner critic
→ life transitions
→ prenatal and postpartum struggles

About me

Christi-an Slomka (she/her)
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I’m a queer mama who walks life's winding path with an open heart, a sense of humour and a commitment to working towards a kinder and more just world.

I supported thousands of people in their mental health journeys as a community educator with Calm (2017-2022).

As the director at Kula Yoga Annex in downtown Toronto (2009-14), I’m proud of the work I did with studio manager, jamilah malika abu-bakare to lead change in the wider yoga community. During a time when there was significant resistance to conversations around anti-oppression and cultural appropriation, we co-created a more inclusive, accessible and trauma-informed space.

Personally, I have benefitted greatly from both my mindfulness practices and going to therapy. Professionally, I consider it an honor to support others on their unique path of healing and self-discovery.

Land Acknowledgment

I live and work within the Haldimand Tract in Kitchener, Ontario. Affirmed in 1784, the Haldimand Proclamation reserves six miles on either side of the Grand River from the river’s mouth to its source to be enjoyed by Six Nations and their descendants forever. Today, Six Nations of the Grand River lands comprise less than 5% of what was originally granted. I stand in solidarity with the Haudenosaunee as they call for an end to the exploitation of their territory without their consent. I make a monthly donation to Crow Shield Lodge in support of their land-based healing and reconciliation work.
