Loving Kindness Meditation
Loving-kindness also known as metta, is a Buddhist practice of cultivating unconditional love and goodwill towards ourselves and others, including folks we might find challenging to be in a relationship with. Put most simply, it’s a practice of directing good wishes to someone and connecting with the feelings of warmth and care inherent in those wishes.
The beauty of this practice is it can help us to connect to our shared humanity and develop more compassion, empathy, and equanimity.
I’ve created a short ten-minute practice for you to try with the following wishes.
May all beings be happy.
May all beings be healthy.
May all beings be safe and free from danger.
May all beings feel peace.
Try it! And, let me know how it goes.
